Looking Back

In 1936, I was working part-time for my father's Allis-Chalmers Farm Machinery Agency in San Antonio.  A small combine (Allis-Chalmers All-Crop Harvester) had been traded in on a new tractor.  I asked my dad if I could haul it to Boerne and do custom harvesting of wheat and oats.  He said, "Have at it."  It was one of my life's great experiences especially when the farmer's wife would come down to the field with a basket full of sandwiches and lemonade.  It was so hot and dusty but such kindness made it wonderful.Location of Sachs Garage 1984Location of Sachs Garage 1984  I was working one full moon night and caught the combine on a terrace, took it into Boerne and had it fixed in no time by SACH'S GARAGE.

On my rounds I met Col. and Mrs. Rozelle.  They were interested in a garden tractor.  I demonstrated an Allis-Chalmers Model B which was the smallest they made.  They bought the tractor and it still exists on the property that the Cibolo Nature Center owns.
